Interesting development for those who’ve been waiting for new Ghost of Tsushima game.
Back in 2020, Sucker Punch Productions and Nixxes presented a brand-new IP that took players to the gripping setting of 13th-century Japan, suffering from a Mongol invasion. The game proved so successful that it left fans hungry for a Ghost of Tsushima sequel. After all, the first installment won over the hearts of many players with its absolutely stunning open world that showcased Japanese culture, history, and scenery in all its glory. Other aspects, such as a compelling story, fluid combat, and satisfying stealth gameplay, were also highly praised.
After four years since the release of the first title, we’ve finally gotten a sneak peek at Ghost of Yotei during PlayStation’s State of Play. While the creators claim they will remain loyal to the main pillars of the first installment, there are a number of noticeable changes. What should we expect from this highly anticipated continuation? Here’s everything we know about the new entry in the game series.
How will the Ghost of Tsushima sequel be different from the original?
IIf you were expecting Ghost of Tsushima 2, you will need to manage your expectations accordingly. It will not be a direct continuation per se, as Sucker Punch Productions plans to build something “fresh but familiar.” After all, part of Tsushima’s charm was that it was a totally different IP.
In terms of novelty, the story is fast-forwarded to the beginning of the 17th century, over 300 years after the events of the first entry. Therefore, we won’t be fighting off Mongols as Jin Sakai in Ghost of Yotei. Instead, we will take on the role of a different wandering samurai who, judging by the trailers, may join the list of female protagonists in video games.
According to this blog we can also expect new gameplay mechanics and weapons. As for the authentic atmosphere of feudal Japan, freedom of exploration, and top-notch combat system, the developers will remain as close to the predecessor as possible.
Is there a Ghost of Yotei release date?
At the moment, the Ghost of Yotei release date is still unknown. However, we did see the “2025” message at the end of the trailer, indicating that the game is scheduled to launch sometime next year. We’ll update this section as soon as the exact release date is announced.
Do we know the Ghost of Yotei price?
Neither the blog nor the trailer has revealed the price of Ghost of Yotei yet. It will most likely be announced as soon as preorders kick off in the future. Will there be a Ghost of Yotei PC version?
As of now, it is unclear whether the Ghost of Yotei PC release will coincide with the PS5 launch. There are signs that the new game will be available on Sony’s consoles only. Ghost of Tsushima: Directors Cut initially was a PlayStation exclusive, as it came out on Steam and the Epic Games Store on May 16, 2024, almost three years after the PS release of the base game. The same scenario might become a reality for the sequel.
