Popular and so much desired – here’s our list of the best PlayStation games ported to PC & Steam!

We’re living in unusual times. In the past, consoles and PCs were two rival camps, with the first ones having one weapon up their sleeve – gaming exclusivity. Playing specific titles meant putting aside platform loyalty and buying a console. It may sound absurd, but it made sense, given how unique and objectively good these games were.

Of course, we’re talking about PlayStation exclusives, which became a badge of honor and the common name for high-quality production, iconic characters, and memorable stories. Playing them feels special and leaves a pleasant aftertaste that stays with you for a while. Nowadays, we’re lucky enough to see such games entering our realm. One by one, these amazing games start appearing on PC.

Updated on Strike down Hugo Kupka and take good care of Atreus (the BOY). FF XVI and God of War Ragnarök are now available on PC!

What are the best ex-PlayStation exclusives on PC?

In this article, we gathered the best ex-PlayStation exclusives on PC that did not lose their unique appeal. Hopefully, the list will grow even more over the years.

Death Stranding

PlayStation release: November 8, 2019;
PC release: July 14, 2020.

Some people may already be tired of endless praise for genius Hideo Kojima and his first independent project after the split from Konami. But let’s be honest, nothing gets the Game Of The Year title just for a famous name. The renowned game developer is celebrated for his extraordinary imagination and innovative gameplay.. With Death Stranding, he got absolute artistic freedom. The result is unusual and captivating.

Describing the gaming experience would not do it justice. On the surface, it looks like a delivery man simulator. It’s certainly not fast-paced, but those who played it would understand that it’s not that simple, and overcoming long distances takes some planning and strategizing. It’s a perfect pick for those tired of standardized AAA action games who are up for an unusual experience.

Days Gone

PlayStation release: April 26, 2019;
PC release: May 18, 2021.

Ah, the era of the zombie genre craze…… Ever dreamed of this trend making a comeback? Dying Light 2 has partially revived it, but it won’t hurt to familiarize yourself with this blast from 2019. The plot might not be the strongest suit in this game, which is unusual for PlayStation games on PC.

But then again, it’s a zombie title we’re talking about, and it’s the atmosphere that counts. Days Gone delivers it, hands down. Prepare for crowds of the walking dead chasing you, fun combat, and interactions between two bikers who are just trying to survive in the post-pandemic world.

Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition

PlayStation release: March 1, 2017;
PC release: August 7, 2020.

Some skeptics complained that the game sags a little bit in terms of gameplay, especially side quests. Regardless of this shortcoming, Horizon Zero Dawn is simply one of the most visually mesmerizing titles of the past decade. Its developer, Guerrilla Games, managed to achieve that by presenting an unusual depiction of the future, which is jaw-dropping both conceptually and visually.

You’ll likely find yourself taking a lot of screenshots because the view of the wilderness roaming with animalistic robots is breathtaking. In this beautiful setting, we find our courageous Aloy, who is trying to unravel the mystery of this world, what was before, and how it came to be what it is today.

Bear in mind that the PC master race got not just the base game but also The Frozen Wilds expansion, digital content, and in-game items.

Detroit: Become Human

PlayStation release: May 25, 2018;
PC release: December 12, 2019.

The craze for this story-rich title can be long gone, but there’s no sense in denying that Detroit: Become Human is one of the most impressive representatives of all PlayStation games on PC. Just look at the chain of events you get at the end of each chapter! The plot can go in any direction, depending on your choice and how much you explore.

Thanks to a fantastic sound and visual design, you’ll have an interactive, nearly cinematic experience about the future conflict between humans and hyper-realistic androids that are gaining consciousness. The stories of all three main characters and their sidekicks are captivating, and you will probably be playing the game over and over to see all the endings.

Ghost of Tsushima

PlayStation release: July 17, 2020;
PC release: May 16, 2024.

Despite controversies surrounding PSN account linking, which resulted in the game being delisted from digital stores in over a hundred countries, Ghost of Tsushima’s PC port launched to great popularity, becoming PlayStation’s best single-player launch to date.

Unsurprisingly, Jin Sakai’s game is highly regarded as one of Sony’s most notable productions. This open-world hit narrates a tale set in 13th-century Japan, tasking players with defending Tsushima Island from the Mongol invasion. Smooth combat, an engaging story, and an unmatched atmosphere all blend together to create a fantastic gaming experience.

Persona 4 Golden

PlayStation release: July 10, 2008;
PC release: June 13, 2020.

The announcement that ATLUS is reconsidering its PlayStation exclusivity policy was greeted with tremendous enthusiasm. After all, this series is renowned for its incredible soundtrack, gameplay, plot, and characters.

Such generous praise is well-deserved for this particular installment, too. In Persona 4 Golden, except for some improvements and minor additions, the story is pretty similar to the classic edition. In a colorful anime setting in a Japanese rural town, a group of teenagers discovers special abilities that can help them save people from the grim consequences of suppressing emotions. It’s a real treat for fans of JRPGs.

Persona 5 Royal

PlayStation release: September 15, 2016;
PC release: October 21, 2022.

After years of waiting, the definitive edition of Persona 5 is widely considered one of the best modern JRPGs, is now available on PC. Similarly to other installments of the series, the protagonist and his friends lead double lives, being high schoolers by day and heroes by night.

Joker attends school like any other guy his age, and we experience his journey in the form of an adventure game blended with visual novel mechanics. On the other hand, his pastimes will be quite extraordinary when he becomes the Phantom Thieves of Hearts leader. The battles utilize a turn-based system that makes fighting Shadows quite enjoyable.

Heavy Rain

PlayStation release: February 23, 2010;
PC release: June 24, 2019.

After the release of Fahrenheit, which generated mixed reviews, Quantic Dream really wanted to put all of its creative strength together to make a leap in the gaming development industry. As a result, the players received the signature “choices matter” game that popularized this mechanic. And with the PC release, this masterpiece can be truly timeless.

Heavy Rain has one of the most dramatic and heartbreaking opening chapters that instantly throws its players into an atmosphere of anguish and hopelessness. As the literal heavy rain pours down, the Origami Killer goes on the hunt by targeting children from troubled families. The stories of a divorced father, a private detective, an FBI agent, and a photojournalist intertwine and connect with the mysterious murderer. Will the maniac be stopped?

God of War Ragnarök

PlayStation release: November 9, 2022
PC release: September 19, 2024

The second chapter of Kratos’ Norse saga didn’t disappoint, offering PlayStation users a “bigger, better, faster, more” experience. The game received outstanding reviews (Metascore: 94) and sold exceptionally well. Now, nearly two years later, it’s exciting to see God of War Ragnarök finally arrive on PC.

The edition available on Steam and Epic Games Store includes Ragnarök, along with the free Valhalla DLC, which turns it into a roguelike game. After coming to PC, GoW is fully compatible with DLSS, FSR, NVIDIA Reflex, and other technological marvels that make it look simply stunning—and it also supports ultrawide 32:9. Most importantly, though, it’s still an excellent action-adventure game, where combat and exploration are an absolute pleasure (minus Atreus’ sections…)

Nioh 2 – The Complete Edition

PlayStation release: March 13, 2020;
PC release: February 5, 2021.

It’s time to lose yourself in the unique atmosphere of the Sengoku Era, full of unrest, uprisings, and captivating Japanese mysticism. It is a decent sequel that feels and plays similarly to the first Nioh, which has souls-like mechanics and familiar echoes of pain and frustration over dying repeatedly.

But, to be fair, it is an excellent game with a good selection of weapons, level design, loot, and splendid fighting. Look no further if you are up for a challenge, proper action, and a rewarding combat system.

Beyond: Two Souls

PlayStation release: October 8, 2013;
PC release: July 22, 2019.

After Heavy Rain, Quantic Dream continued the theme of narrative adventure games filled with the QTE sequences the studio is well-known for. Explore the story of Jodie Holmes, who is able to communicate with a spirit named Aiden.

In Beyond: Two Souls, you’ll play as both the girl and the entity. The latter becomes helpful whenever an enemy appears. Moreover, it also offers guidance on numerous puzzles along the way. Help Jodie understand why she’s been linked to Aiden since birth in this cinematic adventure thriller featuring a Hollywood cast of actors.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade

PlayStation release: April 10, 2020;
PC release: June 10, 2021.

The original Final Fantasy VII is still a masterpiece, and seasoned fans would rather pick this version over the remake. However, seeing Cloud and the gang in their new “incarnations” is a feast for the eyes. Aside from completely new visuals and some bold changes in the plot (Tetsuya Nomura knows no boundaries), the combat system also got redesigned. It now mixes the traditional turn-based FF battles with real-time, exciting action. Swapping your characters and making the best use of their abilities is the key to victory!

The Intergrade version of the title features the “Episode INTERmission” DLC that introduces (or re-introduces) players to Yuffie, one of the characters from the original FF7. The DLC contains two new chapters, one in Sector 7 Slums and the other in the Shinra Building.

Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered

PlayStation release: September 7, 2018;
PC release: August 12, 2022.

One of the best Marvel games and a fantastic title overall is finally available to PC gamers. Insomniac Games took the original concept of Peter Parker’s story and expanded it with new events and characters. Then, they blended all of this with satisfying gameplay similar to what you may have seen in Batman: Arkham Asylum and the rest of the trilogy.

Besides kicking and punching the opponents, you can use Spidey’s technically advanced web shooters to immobilize baddies or grab objects to throw at them. New York is huge, so your abilities will also come in handy when you explore the city.

UNCHARTED: Legacy of Thieves Collection

PlayStation release: January 28, 2022;
PC release: October 19, 2022.

The Uncharted series has held the proud PlayStation exclusive since 2007. However, that changed two years ago, with UNCHARTED: Legacy of Thieves Collection marking the franchise’s first appearance on PC. The game includes the remastered versions of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and a stand-alone expansion, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.

After all his crazy journeys and raiding the tombs, Nathan Drake decides to move to Philadelphia to stay back and enjoy a calmer life. However, his adventurous past can’t leave him alone as the presumably dead older brother suddenly appears and asks for help in finding Henry Avery’s treasure.

Sackboy: A Big Adventure

PlayStation release: November 12, 2020;
PC release: October 27, 2022.

Sackboy and its predecessor, LittleBigPlanet, have been a staple of PlayStation consoles for many years, and thankfully, his hijinks have finally made their way to the PC. Sackboy: A Big Adventure puts you in the shoes of the likable protagonist you know from the LittleBigPlanet series. Crossing platforms, avoiding obstacles, and collecting items are at the heart of the gameplay.

The title also features multiplayer for up to four players, allowing you to embark on your journey with friends. However, you can also play alone. The Windows PC version features some unique features, such as NVIDIA DLSS and support for 21:9 displays, similar to other former PS exclusives.

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales

PlayStation release: November 12, 2020;
PC release: November 18, 2022.

Much to the delight of Marvel fans, the second installment of the Spider-Man franchise made its debut on PC. This time, Miles Morales will be watching over New York while Peter enjoys his vacation. The gameplay is more or less the same as in the first entry.

However, Miles likes to use a series of gadgets and bio-electric energy called “Venom” (fitting, right?) and “Camouflage”, which allow him to move around undetected for some time. This invisibility works perfectly for numerous stealth segments in the game.

Moreover, if you’d like to find more titles featuring superheroes, our list of the best games based on comic books will be right up your alley. After all, there’s nothing more enjoyable than immersing yourself in the imaginary worlds you know and love.

Final Fantasy XVI

PlayStation release: June 22, 2023
PC release: September 17, 2024

Just over a year after its PS5 release, PC players can finally hop on a trusty Chocobo to follow the epic story full of twists, turns, betrayals, alliances, and, naturally, big friggin monster battles. Final Fantasy XVI has had plenty of Game of Thrones molecules injected into its DNA, so the tone is noticeably darker than in most of its predecessors.

FF16 tells a story about Clive Rosfield and his journey through the world of Valisthea. More inquisitive players can pause the game during cutscenes to dig deeper into the lore, as it provides extra details about characters, locations, and so on. Combat feels great (especially when Eikons, the colossal beasts, start duking it out), but the side quests are painfully dull and sleep-inducing.

Returnal

PlayStation release: April 30, 2021;
PC release: February 15, 2023.

Returnal was undoubtedly one of the most anticipated former PlayStation exclusives to come to PC. This unique fusion of TPS and roguelike quickly captured the hearts of gamers with its stunning visuals and challenging gameplay.

In the game, you take on the role of Selene, an astronaut who is stuck in a time loop, reliving the crash of her spaceship over and over again. However, each time she crashes on the planet, it looks a little different. Your goal is to figure out what is going on and escape the loop.

The Last Of Us Part I Remake

PlayStation release: September 2, 2022;
PC release: March 28, 2023.

If you’ve ever discussed what PS games to play on PC, there is a 99.99% chance someone will bring Naughty Dog’s hit. This series is worth discovering, regardless of what some critics say about Part II. The world is in chaos due to a mysterious fungus turning people into zombie-like infected. Surviving in this world is tricky enough with monsters, but as you can imagine, even humans can’t be trusted.

From a technical point of view, TLOU Part I launch wasn’t smooth. Nonetheless, the incredible story remains the same. Follow Joel, an aging, exhausted smuggler, and a girl named Ellie, whose destinies intertwine due to a coincidence. Together, you’ll explore terrifying areas full of enemies, engage in combat using guns and melee weapons, and continue their search for the rebel group that wants to find a cure.

Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart

PlayStation release: June 11, 2021;
PC release: July 26, 2023.

The franchise has been around since 2002, but Rift Apart is the first entry to break the decade-long exclusivity policy. It is a gorgeous next-gen platformer that requires decent hardware to show technological advancements in all of its glory. As a result, having a mid to high-end PC is needed for a smooth experience. If only Dual Shock could work on PC… Some of the special attacks on Sony’s latest console feel incredible.

The story is simple but captivating enough, as befits the genre. Due to an accident, Ratchet is teleported to an alternative universe, where his prominent antagonist, Doctor Nefarious, rules the world. In such grim circumstances, he finds an interesting companion, Lombax named Rivet, with whom he starts his search for Clank.

Upcoming PC ports of PlayStation exclusives

What other titles will soon become available on PC? Several former exclusives were officially announced — in fact, one of them will be available on Steam and the Epic Games Store in just a few days! Let’s take a look at upcoming hits!

Until Dawn

PlayStation release: August 25, 2015;
PC release: October 4, 2024

Supermassive Games earned recognition by consistently producing interactive drama horrors. For example, PC gamers got to experience The Dark Pictures Series first-hand. The developer’s breakthrough title, Until Dawn, remains a forbidden fruit. But that’s about to change soon.

Have you ever rolled your eyes as painfully dense protagonists walked to their certain deaths in horror movies? In Until Dawn, you’ll get to take control of a group of young people who decided to spend time in the isolated lodge. Make decisions for them to progress the story further and see how many of the party members will survive in the end. Players will have no one else to blame but themselves.
