The Emperor protects (and gives away).

Relic Entertainment’s classic RTS games are celebrating their 20th (Dawn of War) and 15th anniversary (Dawn of War 2) this year. Wait, seriously?

Yup, it’s true—time flies! To commemorate the occasion, SEGA is treating owners of both games with a free upgrade to the Anniversary Editions, which include all DLCs and expansion packs.

Both of these great strategy games are also discounted as part of the SEGA Publisher Sale. If you haven’t added them to your collection yet, check out the latest deals on Dawn of War Steam keys below.

How can I claim my free Dawn of War and Dawn of War 2 Anniversary Editions?

All Dawn of War 1 and Dawn of War 2 owners will automatically receive a free Anniversary Edition upgrade on Steam. There’s no action required—the base versions of both games will simply be replaced with the new editions in your library.

Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War Anniversary Edition includes:

  • Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War
  • Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Soulstorm
  • Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Winter Assault
  • Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Dark Crusade

Meanwhile, the Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War 2 Anniversary Edition features:

  • Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II
  • Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II – Retribution
  • Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II – Chaos Rising
  • All additional DLCs such as exclusive multiplayer army skins, and campaign and Last Stand wargear previously only available as DLC packs.

Where can I get cheap Dawn of War 1 and Dawn of War 2 Steam keys?

During the current promotion in Valve’s store, you can grab Dawn of War 1 and Dawn of War 2 Steam keys for $7 and $10, respectively. This offer is valid until October 3, 2024.

If you need more reasons to dive into these classics, check out our article about the best Warhammer games, where both titles ranked highly. Though they differ in gameplay—DoW 1 delivers a more traditional strategy experience, while the sequel focuses on smaller-scale tactical battles—both are definitely worth attention.
