The 12 new video games coming in 2024

New games coming out in 2024 should offer something for everyone! Owners of all platforms and enthusiasts of different genres are in for a true feast of promising titles. Without further ado, these are our most-anticipated 2024 game releases!

God of War Ragnarök on PC – September 19th

For PC players who enjoyed 2018’s God of War, Ragnarök is set to be one of the best new games coming out in 2024. It’s not a new game per se, as it was originally released on PlayStation consoles in November 2022. Nevertheless, the majority of our users are PC players. For them and the rest of Norse mythology enthusiasts, it’ll surely be a feast for the eyes.

This entry picks up three years after its predecessor, continuing the journey of Kratos and his now teenage son, Atreus. As Ragnarok looms—a foretold clash of gods—Atreus embarks on a quest to discover his own origins. We keep our fingers crossed for a smooth port without any technical hiccups getting in the way of enjoying a captivating narrative and stunning visuals.

Starting with the premise, you take on the role of Princess Zelda herself, embarking on an adventure to rescue Hyrule and Link. Instead of wielding a sword, she uses the powerful Tri Rod to replicate items or creatures she has encountered. This unique tool will allow you to create your own monsters to combat enemies or even craft a bridge from beds.

THRONE AND LIBERTY – October 1st

The creators of Guild Wars 2 and the Lineage series, NCSoft, are coming back to the roots. South Korea’s game-developing giant is cooking up a gorgeous-looking fantasy MMORPG with tab-targeting combat. THRONE AND LIBERTY is being created in cooperation with Amazon Games, so you know they’re going big with the budget.

But will it successfully get thousands of players glued to their monitors when there is still WoW going strong? NCSoft is certainly trying its best by delivering dazzling graphics and a massive and fully open world to explore. That and numerous other perks will be available for a mere price of… $0!

Until Dawn Remake – October 4th

If you enjoy the creepy atmosphere of cheesy horror movies, you should keep an eye out for the Until Dawn Remake. As dark as it may sound, there’s a certain charm to following the fates of teenagers stranded in an isolated wooden cabin, facing mysterious and often life-and-death situations. But this time, you won’t have to yell at the screen telling them not to split into groups because you’ll control them.

SILENT HILL 2 – October 8th

After long years of waiting and hoping, horror enthusiasts will get to revisit this legendary title once again. We also were looking forward to adding it to our list of upcoming AAA games, but Konami was taking its sweet time with the release date announcement. Fortunately, the silence was broken at the end of May.

What’s so iconic about SILENT HILL 2 that makes everyone so thrilled about the remake? Was it the state-of-art gameplay, monumental plot, or likable characters? It’s all of that, plus the signature atmosphere, that elevated the whole experience and made a powerful impression on thousands of players. The bar is set pretty high, but will Bloober Team SA match the expectations? We’ll see at the beginning of October.

Metaphor: ReFantazio – October 11th

For Persona fans, October 11 is undeniably one of the most-anticipated video game release dates in 2024. But why, you ask? This day marks the arrival of the long-awaited Metaphor: ReFantazio. Unlike Persona, which immerses you in contemporary settings, this is Atlus’ venture into a fantasy world.

However, this title also retains some of the franchise’s staple features, such as building bonds with your companions and managing time. Moreover, it boasts a stunningly beautiful interface and an anime-inspired aesthetic. Interestingly, characters will awaken to magical “Archetype” powers instead of Personas, potentially allowing for more party customization than ever before. In addition, traditional turn-based battles will be supplemented with some real-time elements.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 – October 24th

Is Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 going to be one of the top games in 2024? It depends on who you ask, but one thing’s certain: All FPS buffs are excited for its release.

Set in the early 1990s, its main campaign offers high-octane action with daring heists and espionage missions. You can expect to see both familiar and fresh characters throughout the story. And if you don’t enjoy flying solo, get ready for a multiplayer experience with 16 new maps at launch, along with the popular Zombies mode.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard – October 31st

That’s right, there will be another Dragon Age title this year. Brace yourself for a sequel of 2014’s Dragon Age: Inquisition, with real-time combat, a strong dark fantasy feel, and tough decisions to make. Fans of the previous entry will certainly appreciate the return of familiar characters you might remember from the previous journey across Thedas.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows – November 15th

Suppose you’re a history buff with a penchant for the tales of samurai and ninjas. In that case, you’re likely counting down the days until you can immerse yourself in Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Ubisoft’s take on feudal Japan. This entry will follow a duo of protagonists, Naoe and Yasuke, each with their own distinct abilities. Naoe is a master of stealth and covert operations, while Yasuke is a formidable warrior, preferring direct confrontations.

Path of Exile 2 – November 15th

This year is shaping up to be particularly fruitful for the fans of massively multiplayer online, with the Path of Exile sequel. Living up to high expectations is a great burden, especially when so many loyal fans are still having a blast with the first installment. But don’t worry; Grinding Gear Games has prepared lots of novel features that will satisfy a devoted fanbase and potential newcomers.

Brace yourself for a more fluid and dynamic combat system fitting for a high-caliber game. Such a grandiose project requires some patience and adjustments, so Path of Exile 2 is launching as an Early Access title to start with. Nonetheless, those who were lucky enough to test it claim it’s going to be the best AAA game for MMO role-playing game enthusiasts.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl – November 20th

While it’s been some time since it was first revealed, it appears that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is on track to join the roster of new AAA games of 2024. It continues the legacy of the classic FPS survival horror series, known for its intense atmosphere and deeply immersive gameplay.

As you make your way through the Zone, you’ll encounter deadly mutants, hostile bandits, and unpredictable anomalies; in short, life as a stalker is anything but easy. It’s also worth noting that the game will be added to the Game Pass catalog on day one!

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle – December 9th

Finally, after a long silence, we have concrete details about Machine Games’ new project. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will be an FPP action title with a story set between Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade. This year, no top AAA games list would be complete without Indy’s adventure.

In this title, the iconic archaeologist will be able to use his classic whip to combat enemies or overcome obstacles standing in his way. With numerous puzzles to solve and a bunch of varied locations (ancient temples, dangerous mountains, and so on) to explore, it wouldn’t be a surprise if it turns out to be the best triple A game of 2024.

This concludes our list of the best upcoming 2024 game releases. It is long but certainly not exhaustive, as there are many more great ones launching this year.
